Frequently Asked Questions: 1. When is the best time to schedule a trip? We feel the best time of the year is any time you have to fish. In spring the Red River is usually extremely high so we tend to spend most of those months on Cane River Lake, Sibley Lake and Black Lake. Summer time is when Red River really shines, some monsters have been taken off the river this time of year. Ask about our special night packages in summer. Fall/Winter is a cat fisherman's dream time in Louisiana. Big cats are stocking up for the cold water and can be readily caught. 2. What do I need to Bring? The only thing you need to bring is a license and a great fishing attitude. We provide rods, reels, hooks, bait, and for full day packages we also provide a sack lunch (usually a sandwich, chips, piece of fruit and a cold drink). You are encouraged to check the weather before your trip to make sure you have comfortable clothing and any type of protective clothing or sunscreen you might want. 3. What else am I responsible for? The only other things you are responsible for are your license, lodging and transportation to the agreed meeting point. 4. What type of boat do you use? For 1-2 guest we like to use our 18ft Stratos Boat. 5. Are children allowed? Of course we encourage families to come and bring their children. In fact children under the age of 10 count towards the total number of guest but not towards the paying number. 6. Do you offer guide services for other species? We have in the past offered guided services for Striper, Bream, and Crappie. If you are looking for bass we have a couple of colleagues who offer guide trips on Red River and Cane River Lakes. 7. What size fish can we expect? Catfish can grow to huge sizes. And the ones in Louisiana are no exception. There is always the opportunity to catch the next record catfish. for a list of state records look at this record link. 8. What type of equipment do you use? We like to use AllStar Graphite® rods and Abu Garcia® reels spooled with Stren® line. Weights come from Top Brass Tackle® anchored to Daiichi® Bleeding Bait™ and depending on the bait type Lil' Stinker® Catfishing Baits or live baits. We also now offer a trip for Artificial bait using the new Mr. Twister® Exude™ Shrimp and Corn Niblet™. For more information please contact us.
